Party Season Outfit Inspiration - 25 Outfits to get you into the Festive Season, Ho Ho Ho!

I know we've all had a rough year, but can you believe it's (almost) Christmas!?

I know right? where has this Pandemic Year gone??!!

Although this festive season (like everything else this year) may be a little different, it is still a great reason to dress up, feel confident and celebrate with loved ones.

Who knows what format Christmas parties will take in 2020. Will we be having gatherings in outdoor setting? Will we be allowed parties of up to 30 people indoors? At the moment, we just don't know. But what we are certain of, is that Christmas festivities require sequins, glamour and fabulousness, regardless of how many people you'll be able to show off to in person. So, whether you're looking for a work Christmas party outfit or deciding on a Christmas day outfit to wear with your family, I’ve got you covered.

After many months of not being able to visit the shops, I have once again explored the retail world and have some fabulous suggestions!

Hopefully you'll find something that tickles your fancy, so you can treat yourself to something sparkly, casual, stylish or crazy fun.

Get into the Christmas Spirit with a Pop of Red

This Portman's Madison Wrap Linen Dress is extremely flattering!

The wrap style is ideal for hourglass body types, but if you are have a rectangular body shape, the puffy sleeves, frilled hem and tie around the waist, will give you the illusion of curves.

The knee length makes this dress perfect for pairing with sneakers for a daytime look or with wedges or heels for a more formal look.

Here is at Gatsby-style Hankie Hem Satin Midi dress from Tokito (Myer). With curved hem, batwing sleeves, plunging neckline and elasticated waist, this dress is the right combination of glamour and comfort. The batwing sleeves are flattering for many body types from triangles to oval. The elasticated waist of this dress, helps define a waist to oval body types and the curved hem elongates the leg, making it ideal for petites. The plunging V neckline elongates the torso and helps break up the width of the chest, but don't forget the body tape if you choose this one, unless you want to risk excessive exposure!

Another gorgeous dress from Myer Girls on Film, is this lace tiered short sleeve dress. The tiered ruffled skirt and fluted cuffs on the sleeves are ideal for creating curves. Ruffles are absolutely on trend this season so if you are hourglass or rectangle, this dress will emphasise your waist and give the illusion of wider hips. The round neck and 3/4 sleeves will add volume to your torso while showing off your legs. The solid colour of this dress also makes petite silhouettes appear taller.

But if dresses are not your thing, why not try this French Connection shirred body jumpsuit. This jumpsuit is comfortable and extremely flattering. Made from crepe fabric, it drapes in all the right places and the stretchy bodice will make room for any extra helpings on indulge during Christmas lunch. Ideal for petite body types, since the shirred bodice shows off your figure and the relaxed style of the bottom half, gives the illusion of curves. The shirred bodice is super stretchy and comfortable and can help compress your bust if your are large busted, giving the appearance of a smaller chest. The straps on this jumpsuit are not too thin, and create a square neckline which balances the neckline and draws attention to the collar bone.

Not a fan of Red, try Green instead

A must-have style this summer is the Tiered Midi Skirt, and this French Connection one features the also on-trend spot print in a Christmasy Fern Green colour. This skirt is made from a light weight fabric, ideal for our hot summer and features a side split. I've paired it with the matching puff sleeve, button down front shirt. The V neckline on this shirt is very flattering. This top can be worn tucked in or tied at the waist. This combination would suit hourglass, triangle and inverted triangle body shapes.

This Eva Button Up Linen Dress from Marcs is very festive. Made from a linen-viscose blend it is very comfortable to wear. It features an ultra-flattering V neckline and side skirt pockets. This dress would suit hourglass, inverted triangles and triangle body shapes. The fitted bodice shows off your upper half, and the fuller skirt camouflages your bottom half and balance your shape - a win-win dress, I say!

If you are not into all the red and green around Christmas, this Country Road statement off-the shoulder kiwi-green dress may be an option. With elasticated ruffled neckline, it can be worn off the shoulder or with only one shoulder exposed. With bubble sleeves and made from a linen blend fabric, it is a gorgeous summer dress. The off-the shoulder design is ideal for the triangular body shape, since it draws attention to your shoulders and the loose fitting of the dress, camouflages the hips. This dress can also be worn by ovals and hourglass silhouettes.

Sparkle with some Shimmer

Shimmer-shimmer with Portman's Roxy Metallic Wrap Dress. Perfect for Christmas or New Year's Eve celebrations. Wrap front design with short sleeves, tiered ruffled skirt and tie belt. Flattering to most body shapes since the dress will create curves for rectangle body shapes and also enhance the silhouette of triangle, inverted triangle and hourglass body shapes. The fabric is festive and luxuriously glamorous!

This Portman's First Dance Sequin dress screams party-time! Guaranteed to inject you with new found confidence, this v-neck wrap front dress will have you turning heads. The long sleeves have elasticated cuffs, so the can be pulled up to the elbow for petite or smaller frames. The wrap front suits most body shapes and the elasticated waist not only defines the waist but also adds stretch and comfort. Comes in black, champagne (not pictured) and Rose Gold.

If you are looking for something a little more original, check out this collared semi-sheer shirt dress from Zara. With long sleeves and covered in sequins, it will have you sparkling well into the night. Features snap-button fastening at the front and can be worn over any fitted dress, jumpsuits or pant-tee combination. Very flattering and versatile, since it can be worn done up fully, partially or left open, depending on your body shape. Like any sequin, it can be dressed up or down, depending on your mood.

Another sparkly dress from Zara in chocolate brown. This sleeveless shift dress with round neck and shoulder pads would suit oval body shapes, since it hangs straight down hiding your mid-section and creating clean vertical lines. Rectangle and hourglass body shapes could also wear this gorgeous dress, but would need to add a belt or fitted jacket to define the waist and create curves.

An alternative to a sparkly dress is this sequin trousers with adjustable cuffed hems and pockets. Combined with metallic top featuring round neckline, elasticated waist and cuffs. This outfit is from Zara, and I'm sure it could be paired with other items in your wardrobe.

Welcome the New Year in White

This Forever New Broderie Anglaise dress is not only beautiful but also made from sustainable cotton! It features a shirred bodice, medium adjustable straps (creating a square neckline), tiered skirt and is lined. Ideal for any daytime function. It can be dressed up or down and suits oval and inverted triangle body shapes.

This casual white dress, features open v-neckline, short capped sleeves and gathered at the waist with adjustable drawstring. The capped sleeves makes this dress suitable for triangle body shape, since these sleeves will broaden your shoulders and balance the bottom half of your body. This dress is also suitable for oval body shapes since the lightweight fabric will skim your shape and the drawstring can be tightened at the narrowest part to define your waist.

Another Zara sleveless white dress, featuring round neckline and contrast embroidery detail on the bodice. It has a ruffled hem and sits just above the knee. This dress is suitable for oval (since the contrast bodice defines vertical proportions) and inverted triangle body shapes, since the ruffled skirt balances your upper body .

Another white option is this French Connection Belted Linen Dress. It features wrap front with a mandarin collar and tiered skirt. Ideal for hourglass body shapes, since the belt highlights the waist while the sleeves and ruffled skirt enhance the curves. Would also suit triangle body shapes since it will broaden your top half while camouflaging your hip area.

It features empire waist, sits above the knee and is embossed in a gorgeous floral patten. Pink is everywhere this season, so if you are not into Red, Green, White or Sequin, choose Pink.

Spots were featured on Harper's Bazaar top 12 Spring/Summer fashion trends, so this festive season why not do the polka and wear some polka dots?? This Zara jumpsuit ticks all the boxes. Featuring a flattering collared V-neckline, short sleeves and comes with elasticised belt to define the waist. The wide leg of this jumpsuit balances the top half of your silhouette and would therefore suit inverted triangle and hourglass body shapes.

This Blurred Floral Tie Waist Dress from Veronica Maine is divine. Features a simple column shape, padded shoulders and removable tie belt. This dress would suit hourglass and oval body shapes. It is ideal for petites or height challenged ladies, since the blurred floral fabric would elongate your silhouette. It is made from luxurious European fabric and a real statement piece to add to your wardrobe this Christmas.

Black is always party appropriate and this Tally one shoulder dress from Pilgrim will have your partying well into the night. With a fixed bow attached to the one shoulder and asymmetric hemline, this dress is not just your 'LBD'. Made from a slightly stretchy fabric it hugs all the right places and still provides comfort. This dress would suit hourglass and inverted triangle body shapes.

Leopard print never really goes out of fashion, so no party dress list would be complete without some animal print. This Tiered Animal Print Dress from Seed features thin straps creating a square neckline and an unlined tiered skirt. Ideal for triangle shapes as attention is drawn to the shoulders and collarbone and away from the hips. Oval body types can also wear this.

And finally if dresses are not your thing for the festive season, this Saba Lilian Utility Jumpsuit could spark your interest. This jumpsuit would be ideal for hourglass body shapes as well as triangle and inverted triangle silhouettes.
